Introduction

Mariner Studio ("we," "our," or "us") is a maritime navigation application that provides weather data, tide information, current data, navigation unit details, and route planning tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our application on iOS, macOS, Android, and the web.

Information We Collect

Route Data

GPS routes, waypoints, and navigation data that you create within the app. This data is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud if enabled on Apple devices.

App Settings

Your preferences and customization choices within the app.

Photos

Photos taken through the app's camera feature for navigation unit documentation. These remain on your device.

Favorites

Saved weather stations, tide stations, current stations, navigation units, and locations that you bookmark for quick access.

Optional Feedback

If you choose to submit feedback, feature requests, or bug reports through the in-app feedback system, that information is collected to improve the app.

Device Identification

We use platform-specific anonymous device identifiers for device identification purposes. These identifiers are not shared with third parties.

Location Data

GPS location data is collected with your permission to provide local weather, nearby tide and current stations, and navigation features. Location data is processed on-device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Device Information

Basic device information may be collected for crash reporting and app compatibility purposes.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to provide and improve the app's functionality, including delivering weather data for your location, displaying nearby maritime infrastructure, and syncing your data across your devices.

Data Storage and Cloud Sync

On Apple devices, Mariner Studio uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit for data synchronization. Your synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's privacy policies. On Android devices, data is stored locally on your device.

Third-Party Services

Subscription Management (RevenueCat)

We use RevenueCat to process subscriptions and in-app purchases. When you subscribe or restore a purchase, RevenueCat processes information necessary for transaction management, including:

Purchase transactions and subscription status
Anonymous device identifiers for receipt validation
Transaction history with Apple or Google

Apple (iOS / macOS)

On Apple devices, payments are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment method, credit card number, or Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy applies to all payment transactions: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy

Google (Android)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. Your data remains on your device and in your personal iCloud account (on Apple devices).

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time. Here is how:

Local app data: Delete all locally stored data (routes, favorites, settings, photos) by uninstalling the app or clearing app data through your device settings.
iCloud data: On Apple devices, manage or delete synced data through your iCloud storage settings.
Purchase and device data held by RevenueCat: Email us at admin@ospreyapplications.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and we will process your request within 30 days. This will delete your anonymous device identifier and purchase history from our third-party systems.
Subscription management: On iOS/macOS, manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings. On Android, manage or cancel through Google Play Store subscription settings.

After deletion, your local app data and any associated device identifiers held by RevenueCat will be permanently removed. Purchase transaction records maintained by Apple or Google are subject to their respective retention policies.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

Delete all local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data
Manage or delete iCloud synced data through your Apple account settings
Request deletion of data held on our behalf by emailing admin@ospreyapplications.com
Manage your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings
Request information about your RevenueCat data by contacting RevenueCat directly

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. All cloud synchronization is handled through Apple's encrypted iCloud infrastructure. Your local app data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode and encryption.

Children's Privacy

Mariner Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Users

If you are accessing Mariner Studio from outside the United States, please be aware that your data may be processed in the United States through Apple's iCloud services.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
